2012 Strawberry Festival Tournament Highlights for Vito Di Sua

Game One was a narrow defeat 18-3.  Tim, Carl and Jeff started the first inning with singles and they all scored.  Both Tim and Carl scored on Webber's 2 run sacrifice fly (only on Vashon) and Joe drove in Jeff to tie the game at 3.  From there we managed  whopping 2 more hits in the next five innings.  What is it about Saturday Morning Softball?

Game Two was a breakthrough win.  A four run 1st, and a 9 run 4th propelled Vito to a 16 to 13 must win (so we could avoid playing anymore that day).  Rumor has it that the team played better because Becky made a special guest appearance.  C Money was the hero of the game, hitting a mammoth grand slam in the fourth inning and tracking down 6 fly balls in the outfield including 2 in the last of the 7th to preserve the win.

Game Three was a big surprise, an 8am game where we were actually awake.  Vito defeated the Others 27-3.  Carl went yard again, Webber and Dooz each went 3 for 3 and Tom and Jeff each went 3 for 4.  Defensively Troy threw a 5 hitter, and the infield turned 2 double plays.  The quote of the weekend came from the oppositions scorekeeper when in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out she yelled to her team, "Lets twist two, I am running out of score book"

Game Four was also a big surprise in that nobody got hurt in a 15-8 pack your bags your tournament is over defeat.  Jeff, Don and Carl had 3 hits, Tim and Dooz had two hits apiece and the team played well despite Sarge's offensive Bombardment.

2013 will be the 25th year for Vito to take the field at the Strawberry Festival.  Training starts today, 50 sit ups for everyone.  See you next year.
